Felt Board

I'm so excited to be part of a felt board exchange!  Today I made this felt board by framing a piece of 25% wool felt in my 18"x24"poster frame.  Now I'm on to making 14 sets of snowmen and mittens.  I can't wait to exchange so I can get 14 projects for Nico!

Rain Maker

Now that we are finally getting rain in Madison, we did a lesson on rain today.  I drilled holes in a Fresh Express lettuce container.  Then we talked about clouds and rain while
Nico was the rain maker.

Last Week's Projects

Cloud Dough
I mixed 6 cups of flour with 1 cup of baby powder.  Then I let Nico feel it with his hands and make "snowballs."  After that he got cups to scoop and mold the dough with.  Lastly, he made roads and mountains for his trucks and diggers.  The whole activity kept him busy for almost 2 hours!

Graphing
I took a piece of poster board and made it into a graph.  Then I went around the house finding various toys to "graph."  We categorized by color, shape, mode of transportation and zoo/farm animal.

Fireflies
We used cotton balls to make the circles.  Then glued pipe cleaners for the bodies.  Simple!

Fireworks

We filled a glass with water.  Then we put some vegetable oil on top.  Then, we put a few drops of food coloring on top.  When the food coloring worked it's way through the oil, it dropped into the water with a neat "firework" effect.  Very cool!
